Annie's Mac & Cheese

TYPE

packaging design, brand identity design

DATE

fall 2024

I developed a revolutionary redesign of Annie’s mac & cheese packaging line and brand identity system to modernize shelf presence and improve product comprehension and differentiation.

The existing packaging lacked a cohesive visual language, presenting as disconnected SKUs rather than a unified family. Fragmented brand architecture and inconsistent color usage reduced instant flavor recognition and increased cognitive friction for shoppers navigating the shelf.

The primary audience includes adults purchasing organic, convenient food options for themselves or their families. The secondary audience includes children and adolescents drawn to fun, approachable packaging.

My focus was on strengthening consumer comprehension while maintaining brand familiarity. I implemented a consistent layout system, clearer visual hierarchy, structured color logic for flavor differentiation, refined typographic pairing, and illustrated identifiers to reinforce recognition.

I developed logo refinements, color palette, typography system, custom illustrations, digital packaging dielines, and to-scale physical packaging prototypes using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.

Results include a cohesive packaging system demonstrating scalable brand architecture and improved SKU differentiation. The project showcases my ability to design strategic packaging solutions that balance brand consistency with shelf clarity.
